Cosmetic Acupuncture & Microneedling

What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?
Cosmetic acupuncture, also known as facial rejuvenation acupuncture, is a non-surgical, natural treatment that uses sterile, fine needles at specific points on the face to improve the appearance of the skin. It improves blood circulation, promotes collagen production, and reduces inflammation. It can treat fine lines and wrinkles, acne, and scar tissue. In a cosmetic acupuncture session, points are needled on the face and the body to support the whole body’s health.
Highlighted Benefits of Cosmetic Acupuncture
Reduces Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Cosmetic acupuncture stimulates collagen production, which helps minimize fine lines and wrinkles over time. The needles trigger the body’s natural healing response, improving skin tightening and texture.
Improves Complexion
Facial acupuncture benefits include better blood flow, which improves oxygenation and nutrient delivery to the skin, giving it a brighter, more even tone. Increased circulation leads to better hydration and skin cell renewal, leaving the face with a healthy, radiant glow.
Increases Elastin Production
Elastin is what gives the skin its bounce back when it’s stretched or pulled. Facial acupuncture stimulates elastin production, which improves the overall elasticity of the skin.
Minimally Invasive and Holistic
Unlike Botox or fillers, facial acupuncture is a natural treatment that promotes overall health while specifically addressing skin concerns.
Reduces Puffiness
By promoting lymphatic drainage, facial acupuncture can help reduce puffiness and swelling on the face and around the eyes, resulting in a smoother appearance.
Manages Acne and Blemishes
Cosmetic acupuncture can help manage acne and other skin blemishes by balancing hormones, reducing inflammation, and promoting healing
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is the insertion of very fine short needles into the skin for the purpose of rejuvenation. These very fine needles create tiny punctures in the skin to help stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, and reduce wrinkles, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation. During the procedure, needles will go to a depth of 0.25mm to .5mm depending on the patient. It is important to do this treatment with a trained professional to ensure proper technique, use of sterile equipment, and the ability to adjust treatment according to individual skin type and concerns.

Highlighted Benefits of Microneedling
Improved Skin Texture and Tone
Microneedling helps stimulate collagen production in the skin, which can help to improve the texture and tone of the skin. The procedure can also help to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in a more youthful-looking complexion.
Reduced Acne Scars
The procedure can help to break down scar tissue and promote the growth of new collagen, which can help to fill in and smooth out the skin. This can help to reduce the appearance of acne scars and other types of scarring.
Brightened Complexion
The production of new cells promoted by microneedling can lead to a brighter, more even complexion. This can help to reduce the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
Increased Collagen Production
Microneedling helps stimulate collagen production in the skin, which can help improve the skin's elasticity, firmness, and hydration. This can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin texture, resulting in a more youthful-looking complexion.
Enhanced Product Absorption
The small punctures caused by microneedling can boost the absorption of skincare products by 3,000%, making them more effective.
Microneedling FAQs
-
48 hours prior to your appointment (and 24-48 hours after) it is recommended to stop using topicals such as retinols, salicylic acid, azelaic acid, benzoyl peroxides, etc. Since microneedling increases the absorption of products, use of these products immediately prior to and following the treatment can cause excess redness, dryness, or irritation.
Please come to your appointment with a clean, washed face. If you cannot do so, we will provide a gentle face wash for you to wash your face here
Bring a headband to keep hair off the forehead and face if possible
-
Microneedling is not recommended for:
patients on active chemotherapy or radiation
Severe skin disease such as eczema, psoriasis active on the face (or area of treatment)
Patients with current sunburn
Pregnant people
We cannot directly go over active local infections such as warts, active acne, herpes zoster, kelodial scars

Use provided serum on the face morning and night until out
Only use water to wash your face the day of the treatment - no soap
Hyaluronic acid used in treatment will dry and flake - this is not your skin peeling. You may moisten the HA with a splash of water or a hydrosol spray such as rosewater throughout the day
Stay out of the sun for 24 hours following treatment
Utilize mineral sunscreen if you will be out in the sun, ideally every day, but at least for 1 week following treatment
You may also use aloe to reduce any redness following treatment
Avoid sweating the rest of the day following your treatment
You can go back to your normal skincare routine the following day - remember product absorption is increased following microneedling and products such as salicylic acids, benzoyl peroxides, etc, may irritate the skin in the days following microneedling. Avoid these products for a few days if irritation occurs or you know your skin is sensitive.
You must wait one month to do another microneedling treatment.
-
It takes 2 weeks to fully see results from the treatment
At least 4 treatments are recommended to see optimal results - changes can be seen after first treatment but these results build on one another
With a series of treatments results can be maintained for 6-12 months, with touch up appointments being scheduled after the initial series once every 6-12 months.

Microneedling is the insertion of very fine, short needles into the skin for the purpose of rejuvenation.
A small wound is created and the skin responds with collagen production and new skin cells. Depending on the depth of the needle penetration, this can offer skin rejuvenation levels from the simple enhancement of product absorption to the clinical treatment of scars and wrinkles.
Microneedling creates microchannels in the skin. When those channels are created, the skin’s own repair response is to start producing collagen and elastin to heal the controlled injury that was just created. This, in turn, makes our skin tighter and smoother.
